When you go, be sure to start at the top, take the elevator. It's much easier to walk down than to walk up. Though it is a dizzying effect to stare down the spiral floors, so stay away from the edge if you fear vertigo. But if you like getting dizzy, by all means, do it. One of the bottom floors displays The Thannhauser Collection of art from the 20th Century and I just love to see the texture in the canvas and brushstrokes of Picasso, Manet, Cezanne, Gauguin and Van Gogh. The modernism of early 20th century is one of my top favorites. My landmark paintings of NYC are inspired by the pungent colors from the Kandinsky Exhibit at the Frank Lloyd Wright–designed Guggenheim Museum.
